Holy moly. People do weird shit. Kellogg's apparently commissioned a study to see what people do to their morning cereals. Some highlights:
• 4% of people add ice cream to their cereal
• 7% use water instead of milk
• 54% of midwesterners add chocolate milk -- not too weird, but that's a helluva high percentage
• 8% add juice. JUICE! Gross!
• 3% add melted chocolate.
I'm kind of stunned! Is there anybody who reads this blog who wants to defend any of the above practices (except for the chocolate milk, which I'm sure is delicious)? I do want to clarify that not all (though some) of those things are gross, they're just, you know, not what you probably should be eating for breakfast. LIKE ICE CREAM.

i'm not here to defend- i'm here to add.
the animal club's tom 2 once thought he could deliciously "health up" a bowl of lucky charms by using applesauce instead of milk. it did not go as planned.
What's wrong with ice cream for breakfast? Most people I know eat it for breakfast at once when they come and visit me.
When I was little, my mom once let me put orange juice in my cereal without the slightest hint that it might be a horrible disaster that would scar me forever.
Brian, I feel like you should probably add that you MAKE YOUR OWN ICE CREAM. And that is a wonderful reason to eat ice cream at your house. But for everybody else...
I also make my own ice cream. I don't stick it in breakfast cereal though, that's just asking for trouble.
I haven't made one in years, but I used to make Cap'n Crunch Crunchberry and Grape Nuts shakes that were spectacular.
this is just a quick note to let alex know that i do read this blog and i saw that peanut butter comment and that if you're going to get all passive aggressive about peanut butter perhaps you need to examine more than breakfast.
thanks for ruining our relationship, STEFAN.
Marni, if it makes you feel any better, please know that Jordi eats peanut butter with a spoon any time, day or night. We buy peanut butter VERY OFTEN.
great, thanks for ruining ted & jordi's relationship, STEFAN!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
Over half the people in the midwest use chocolate milk on cereal? How high would that number have to get before you started wondering whether this survey is complete bullshit? 75, 80%?
I would say that way, way more people regularly use beer (i.e., Beerios, Frankenbeery, Honey Crunches of Beer, Beer Chex, Beery Beer, Kix) in their cereal than chocolate milk.
Also, peanut butter and ice cream are both delicious.

Health advisory! You can very easily choke on spoonfuls of peanut butter. Really, I think.
So technically, eating it for breakfast (or any time really), might accurately be labeled stupid. Technically.
