When You Have A Song Stuck In Your Head

Just hum the I Like To Be In America song from West Side Story.

It’s a trick Jerf taught me last week. And weirdly enough, it actually works. Like a freaky palette cleanser for your brain.

You could also try "I'll be working on the railroad." That works to cleanse the mind as well. For serious.

In an effort to give credit where credit is due (and take it away from Jeff, which is part of my job description) this trick actually came from the woman I used to nanny for. She heard something on NPR about "earworms" a fancy coin termed by some scientist to describe the phenomenon of getting songs stuck in your head. After a small amount of internet research, however, I think she may have misunderstood his findings. Whereas she claims that he touted "America" as the cure, it seems more like one of the symptoms. But hey, whatever works.

I'd love to know what else is in your job description.

I'm sorry, Alex. I'd love to satiate your curiousity, but I believe that would be in violation of the "proprietary information" clause of my girlfriend contract. I will say this, however: "A bunny! A bunny! A bunny!"
