Newest Yankee Mike Myers about top free agent Johnny Damon:
"I think the fans would absolutely love him there, just his hustle and his passion for the game, the way he goes about his business. I think he'd fit in great in the clubhouse, even though I don't know what the clubhouse is."
The clubhouse is that room with all the lockers that you get changed in, Mike.
Where do we find these people!

Yeah, but I like it better thinking that he doesn't know what a clubhouse is.
It'd be like a football player not knowing what a football is.
Or a slightly more subtle version of that.
At least it's your players who are nuts as opposed to the Mets who are so crazy they would sign Yogi Bera to a 5 year deal.
Besides, aren't you excited that Johnny Damon and Normar might become Yankees?
Nomar I would like, because he's still got an upside and it looks like he's willing to learn new positions and he'd come relatively cheap. But it looks like he's going to the Dodgers...
Damon I would like for two years, because I think his offense is good. But after that, I think he would get old and I think his offense would be bad and the Yankees will probably have signed him to a five year deal or so, so I don't think it would be a great investment.
I tell ya who I would sign: Frank Thomas. Kid can hit.
speaking as a pirate fan-
nomar i'd like because he's better than pokey reese.
damon i'd like because he looks like jesus.
i can't tell if you're kidding about frank thomas, geoff.
you know who's got a HUGE upside? henry rowengartner.
Oh man...imagine what kind of contract a 12-year old kid who throws 100 could get. Although by the time he hit the free agent market he'd be 18, so he'd probably only get a 15-year deal worth $300 mil or so.
And I'm not kidding about Frank Thomas. Yanks need a DH and I imagine he'd come cheap. And his OPS was still in the 900's in limited play last year...kid can hit.
You know who else can hit

He might not be worth the risk of a long-term contract because of the aging thing, but I could see him having a role as a utilityman.
Did you know they made 5 of these movies?
Yankees don't need a DH, you have too many DH's. You have Giambi, you have Sierra, you have ..... Sheffield ina pinch.
You need pitchers and anyone not busted out old/ on steriods...
