Him?

How can you pick a guy named Bruce into the Hall of Fame over a guy named Goose?

OK, his name was Rich and his nickname was Goose. But his last name was Gossage. That should be enough.

Can we please make this happen?

(Nerdy statistical analysis of why I'm right for nerds.)

I agree with you whole heartedly. But I'm not surprised. If "Mr.3000" taught us anything, it's that Bernie Mac attitude doesnt' win Hall of Fame votes.

And the Goose has a 'tude. But he is a great player. Better then some in the hall already and I'd say better then a bunch on the ballet. But Goose (and probably Mattingly and a few others) won't get in becuase they don't play the suck up game. Sad but true.

But I find that this is just another way to see that the soul of baseball is fighting a loosing battle if not just plain dying. The guys who love the game, who love to play, who would play without getting paid, are being ignored in favor of players who are polished for the media, but don't have a "Field of Dreams" in their hearts. Guys like Joe McEwing , Todd Ziele even Ricky Henderson love to play, but get overshadowed by the Mark McGuires and A-Rods. Guys who at the end of the day aren't interested in the smell of the gloves and smack of line drive, but are looking for money and glory. Maybe Ricky Henderson was a bad example, but I think you get my drift.

i'm not saying that this isn't a worthy discussion, but the real shocker yesterday was that albert belle got enough votes to stay on the ballot. i'm fine with orel getting another chance to lose miserably, but albert belle?

Geoff, I don't think we need a statistical to show you're right for nerds. I'm sure all would agree that more than right you're absolutley great for nerds. I'd go so far to say that nerds should seek you out at every opportunity.
