Hootie

I'm sure this issue was addressed once or twice twelve years ago, but hey. Time is relative.

If you name your band Hootie and the Blowfish, of COURSE people are going to think the frontman's name is Hootie. The "This Person and the Them" format nearly always indicates "hey, here is this prominent person and here is their back-up band! But focus on this one person over here, actually!" To wit:

Gladys Knight and the Pips.
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders.
Stefan Lawrence and the Elephant Larry.

Just because this formula doesn't apply to your band doesn't mean you're allowed to get annoyed when people start calling you Hootie. You named your band, now live with it. Or...have lived with it. In 1994.

On a related note, this was totally ridiculous.
