Green Is Alphabet

Saw a familiar bumper sticker this morning:

If you know Ithaca at all, you’re probably aware of its aesthetically pleasing gorges and the resulting slogan’s ubiquitous presence there, adorning stickers and shirts and apparently frisbees and mugs and shot glasses too.

However, walking by this particular sticker, I realized it actually said:

Ithaca is not GORGES

Which pissed me off. Not only because it insults a city I love, but more so because of its sheer, unnecessary negativity. Yes, it made me laugh, but it also clouded my morning with its in-your-face lameness.

Anyway, here’s a relevant sketch by the skits-o’s written by they inimitable Neal Kansy. It gets hard to read the shirts towards the end, but I believe there’s a Green is ALPHABET shirt, which I would buy in a MILLISECOND.

Also, turns out this morning’s bumper sticker probably just said this. Apparently, I just have difficulty walking and reading E’s at the same time.
