March of the Wooden Trailers

Its Friday, and you know what that means: new movie trailers.

War of the Worlds: Cruise. Spielberg. Stuff we've seen a million times before. Although, I do really like the fact that Spielberg is returning to the suburbs (maybe?), where he's done his best work. The actual shots from the movie are really good and menacing.

Be Cool: Oh, haha, its a humorous take on gangsters! Oh wow, what a cool cast! Oh wow, isn't it great that Uma Thurman and John Travolta are dancing together again? Snoooore. SNOOOOOORE.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Totally batshit crazy. I love it. I will go see this movie five million times, minimum.

Aside from the fact that the Be Cool trailer is linked twice in this post, I also have NO idea what the title of this post means. Help!

Jeez... Fixed the link.

Also, March of the Wooden Trailers is a take off of the title of "March of the Wooden Soldiers," which was another name for Laurel & Hardy's version of "Babes in Toyland," a movie I watched 3000 times while I was growing up. The satirical part of this is that most movie trailers, and indeed, two of the three mentioned in this post, could be construed as having been etched from the same piece of wood, so formulaic, and dare I say, wooden, are they.

I can't believe you made me explain that.
