Ben Folds is interviewed in today's Onion! FavQuote:
The press is like any business. It's a group of really intelligent individuals that ends up being one slathering, one-eyed, drooling monster.
Also, you are hereby commanded to download his Dr. Dre cover, Bitches Ain't Shit. It's the perfect mixture of funny and beautiful.
Also also, his site has a great live version of Landed, the newest best song ever.

ben folds' new album ammounts to the unimaginative meanderings of a man who clearly has no conflict in his life anymore and has also inexplicably lost the ability to craft a fun or insightful pop song. so instead, he falls back on cheap sentimentality and easy social commentary.
love,
jake
Yikes. That's a little harsh (I still think he's an awesome songwriter), but I understand what you mean. The album's actually been growing on me the more I listen, though I'll prolly end up liking his last one better.
The closing sentence of last week's Onion review nails it, I think: "...while Songs For Silverman is arguably his most mature work to date, it's almost indisputably his most middle-aged album, which isn't an entirely positive development."
let it be known that jake's comment was transcribed over text message.
let it also be known that jake did not read the original post.
let it thirdly be known that this third party typist has not heard anything by ben folds since rockin' the suburbs.
i really need a blackberry.
love,
the real jake
