Do you think I can sue the producers of Six Feet Under for repeated emotional distress?
I don't think I've yet made it through a season of the show (and I've seen three so far) without ending up very distressed, crying, or shaking feverishly.
I also think that the mission statement of the show must be "Happiness never lasts."
Actually, I think THEY think the mission statement is "Life is precious, hold on to the little moments." But the way they depict it, it's more like, "Life is a series of random occurances strung together by heart-ache and pain. But once you die, everything makes sense, and you're finally happy."
This can be distilled into the handy catch-phrase, "Six Feet Under says: Why Don't You Kill Yourself?"
In any case, I think I could sue them, but I'd probably lose. It's not like they forced me to watch their show. And besides, life is an awful mess anyway, why not let a TV show make me feel that way?
I think I need to start watching something funnier.

No spoiler, but I assure you that feeling does not go away with the 4th and 5th (last)season. Theend of the series has left me feeling like I have lost a family.
