Pig Fact!

Pigs have a corkscrew shaped penis!

Except for the ladies! Ba-dum-ching!

All I know about pigs is sex things.

non-christmas ham and pulled pork. how could regular ham live up to christmas ham? (slight irony- jesus never ate pork as he was a proper jew, yet that's how we celebrate his birthday) pulled pork is just a disgusting concept. i can't get past it.

as a former vegetarian, i can say imitation pork products fared better than real pigs in the taste department. i liked imitation spare ribs and fakon (fake bacon) quite a bit.

that reminds me- mcrib sandwiches are probably a certain percentage actual pig, too, and mcrib sandwiches are even more disgusting than pulled pork, so i guess actual pigs are batting 3 for 7, while fake pigs are 2 for 2.

Imitation spare ribs? But... What? Those exist?

WHERE?

Seriously though pulled pork sandwiches are awesome. They just sound...dirty.

alex-
i used to buy them at the east end food co-op in pittsburgh. up here in chicago, trader joes has some freezer not-ribs, and gardenburger makes a mcrib-ish type thing that tastes a lot like the ribletts you'd get at applebee's. my neighborhood grocery store has a nice veggie section, and the spare ribs are alongside the amy's stuff in the freezer.

and a lot of vegetarian restaurants are adding veggie spare ribs (either tofu or sweet potato-based) to their menus. mmmmmm....

now i'm all hungry. but i don't want to cook, so i'm going to suppress my appetite by thinking about how gross pork salad would be. there we go.

Oh. See, there's a difference between spare ribs, which you get at chinese food places and are one of my favorite, most missed meat products, and ribs, which are fine, and yes, I've had the gardenburger variety, and they are very tasty.

Nuts.

i gotcha. but don't despair, the chinese food variety exists, too, though only at restaurants.

sorry to get yr hopes up.
