I'm Going Nuts!

Only one week of baseball left! Seven games to determine whether or not the Yankees will miss the playoffs for the first time since I was 13.

All I can think about is baseball. This isn't healthy. I've gone through the pitching match-ups for the next seven games seven times each in my head, for symmetry. I've dissected the line-up of our next opponent, the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles. Does it get more depressing than stressing out about the Orioles? If you don't know baseball, I'll tell you: no, it does not.

If you interact with me within the next week, please be gentle. Though I am blessed to be a Yankee fan, we still do encounter our share of pain...though substantially less than, say, Pirates fans.

And if you tell me "there's always next year!" I'll bite your head off.

Don't stress about the O's. They make everyone sad.

we're numb to pain at this point, geoff, but it's still tough for a pirate fan to find sympathy for a yankees fan. but i'll try by saying this-

if the yankees making the playoffs means the indians don't, i'm all for it. the only thing pittsburgh fans hate more than huge market dominance is small market successes less than two hours away.

Is baseball still going on?

I don't know about baseball, but comic books are still going on. Am I right, Cory? Am I?

I'm totally with you, Geoff. I'll even suspend Ghostbusters debates so that we can unite for the greater good.

I'm hoping for an improbable four-game winning streak for the Yanks combined with a four-game losing streak for the Sox, allowing the Yanks to win the AL East pennant before they even step foot in Fenway Park.

Go Yanks.

Alex, we are so close to Infinite Crisis I can taste it. Oddly enough it taste like papaya...

Papaya and dead Blue Beetle...which I knew about early because SOMEBODY wrote about it in their blog.

No spoiler alert. What kind of geek are you, Cory?

SPOILER ALERT! In the last issue of DoV, the Blue Beetle's scarab dropped down in El Paso Texas, in the most blatant "This character is coming back!" I've ever seen.

Geoff posted about comic books, right?

Hey nerds, get your comic books off my sports!

I was thinking about an idea this morning: Aren't people who love sports really nerds?

So, you snively little sports nerd, we'll talk about whatever we want. Or we'll stuff you in a long box. HAHAHAHAHA.

But which Blue Beetle will it be? Also why El Paso? I've been spending way too much time trying to figure out if El Paso has any significance...

Alex said...

I think it has NO significance. There are two or three totally retarded moments in CoIE where new characters are introduced that serve almost no significance to the plot whatsoever (See "I am the NEW WILDCAT!" or "I need to create a NEW DOCTOR LIGHT!")

Basically, I think it fell in El Paso so they can have a new Latino, female Blue Beetle. That's the whole significance. And it'll probably get back to the characters magical roots.

Until Issue #25, when there's the SHOCKING RETURN OF TED KORD!!!

Oh, and Cory, here's a cool idea I heard recently. Notice how the OMAC eye is similar to Despero's eye (you have been reading JLA, right?)... The idea, whether it pans out or not, is the reason that so many of the Giffen/DeMatteis era JLA is being killed is because of Despero, that this whole thing is Despero's revenge, and he was controlling/boosting Max Lord the entire time!

Eat that, sports nerds.

That's IT. Tonight I start a sketch-comic-nerd blog. Alex, Cory, you're officially invited. Geoff, you stay in your locker room.

Although, I did play soccer, baseball, basketball, & rugby (and also pole vaulted), so I kinda ride the line.

Dear Nerds,

I refuse to fall for your nerd mind games.

Nerds are nerds and jocks are jocks. End of story.

xox,
Cool Geoff

Interesting theory about Despero...but I still want to know who Mockingbird is...maybe Alex Luthor from Earth 3?

Alex said...

That's what I was thinking, too... I'm actually thinking that maybe the Luthor in Villains United IS Alex Luthor, which would explain why there's two totally different Luthors running around (crazy, super-suit Luthor, and composed, suit wearing Luthor who seems to know a lot about CoIE).

[Alex hits Geoff with a +5 Mace.]

ted pole vaulted?

Baz said...

i don't know who's responsible for this, but clicking on ted's name is a fun experience.

Baz, I was MUCH skinnier then...oh, and in shape.

And I think you're the first person in all of time and space to utter (even written) the words "Clicking on Ted's name is a fun experience."

Baz said...

that's me. baz. being first at stuff since 2005.

and as far as the name clicking experience goes, you've managed to one up yourself. i've also made liberal use of that link here and here to name a few.
