I've created a handy mnemonic device for remembering how many streets there are between my subway stop (Union St.), and my apartment (2nd St.), working from the numbered streets backwards:
During the 1st
Garfield
Christmas Carroll,
He was elected President
Of the Union
Fun fact: A Pneumonic Device is entirely different from a Mnemonic Device!

I also have a mnemonic device for the streets between 1st and Union! It's "Grand Central Parkway" for Garfield, Carroll and President.
This mnemonic device works best for those familiar with the Grand Central Parkway; if you grew up near the Grand Pentral Carkway, you're totally FUCKED.
